Android Update

Update Sony Ericsson xPeria X10 to Android 2.1

One of the advantages of the new mobile platforms like Android and IOS is available to update our phones (smart) to a new operating system version, which is sometimes called firmware, which has the great advantage of allowing software to evolve our phone to add new features, fix bugs and make the system faster. Android updates depend largely on the cell phone manufacturer, as each of them must adjust the Android source code of the particular hardware device, which is why one finds phones running different versions of the operating system because it depends on manufacturer and user to keep a day with updates.

In this article I want to share a visual guide to upgrading a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 the old Android 1.6 (the version that was released in September 2009) Android 2.1, but not a day that is updated at least this cell version that was released in January 2010 and brings many improvements that I think they feel that other operating system is lighter and optimized.

To do the upgrade using the PC Companion application, which is the software which you can synchronize the phone with a computer running Windows so as to facilitate the tasks of backup of contacts and other phone data and the option update the phone’s operating system, the focus of this article.

When connecting the phone to the computer detects the wireless PC Companion and consultation with the Sony Ericsson website if there is an update waiting to apply and if we choose to make the update shows a wizard that will guide us through the steps to upgrade the operating system:

Before starting the upgrade PC Companion advises us to make a backup of cell phone applications and information through the application Backup & Restore, whose steps can be seen in more detail at: http://www.sonyericsson.com/ update/backupandrestore/xperiaX10? lc = en & cc = CO

Being ready to support (optional) can perform the steps to pass the phone to the special mode of operating system update, which are well described by the wizard:

Now follow the delayed step that has to do with downloading from the Internet and installing the update, which can last several minutes, in my case took about 45 minutes:

Having completed the installation is to restart the phone for the first time with the new operating system and should have done back, return to the application of Backup & Restore to restore the backup and restore application data and cell phone contacts. In my opinion the system Android contacts synchronization is simple and fast, so if we manage our contacts with Gmail then you can download cell phone in a few simple steps which I hope will detail later.

How to Root-Unrooted Sony Ericsson xPeria X10 and xPeria X10 Mini to Depersonalize Full Android Market Operator

In this post we will learn to make a “ROOT” safe and reversible to eliminate customizations (images, App, etc) themselves and enter the Full Android Market

Personally in this blog have been very acidic to the post of Root, basically to protect the user as a lost Root automatic updates and security with the operator because it is being installed unauthorized software, fortunately with Android 2.1 we have new possibilities and one of those is Z4Root an app that allows us to Root-Unrooted according to our convenience. It also seemed difficult to make a Root-unrooted in Android 1.6 OS and I like this method because we do not have to be glued to the PC, everything we do from the phone.

The process “root” in our Sony Ericsson Xperia, brings many advantages, because with this you get administrator rights, access and total control to the operating system. Manager being able to use programs and features not previously had in Android OS, which were blocked by Sony Ericsson or by the operator as: Tethering in order to use the 3G connection with your computer and your phone works as a modem, make backups, BlueX, change the CPU frequency, screenshots (screenshots), access to computer programs (DroidExplorer) but more important is the ability to uninstall or remove App, images, operator logos and install ringtones, temasy custom ROMs.

We have other app as, SuperOneClick, Universal Androot, XROOT, but I like Z4root as we can make an easy unrooted in case we need to ask for collateral.

Requirements:

  • Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, Xperia X10 Mini, Xperia X10 Mini PRO (I have not tried because I have this model) with Android OS 2.1
  • Enable USB DEBUG mode on the phone: Settings / App / Development / Debug USB Android
  • Download the Android Market Apps: Z4ROOT, ROOT EXPLORER
  • App superuser, BusyBox for advanced users

ROOT
Install Z4Root
We ROOT, the button right in the middle of the screen, then we will have a message “Pls complete root and wait while your device is rebooted …” We hope to do the Root and the phone restarts, do not worry. If the Root does not work you must restart the phone and if I get misconfigured pass by and give SEUS Companion-repair-upgrade and try again
The phone re-starts and we have our Xperia Root. BusyBox SuperUser and we add features and guarantees access to certain programs that need to Root, it is not necessary to install, say it is for advanced users who need more privileges
