Android Update

Motorola Spice Sepcs and Features

Last week was hardly the official launch of Motorola Milestone 2, Spice and Defy in Argentina so it is worth reviewing one of those new Motorola Android which hardly talk after it was announced last month. I mean the Motorola Spice, a cell phone that I found quite interesting in design after having played with him just a few minutes due to its format QWERTY slider down as the BlackBerry or Palm Pre Torch.

Motorola Spice Features
On the other hand, among the negative points of the Motorola Spice I name that comes with 2.1 and Motoblur Android and today there is little hope we have it updated. With pro and con the Motorola Spice in Argentina would be coming before the end of year course (the price would be $ 700 but not confirmed yet) so some will surely be interested in knowing it will offer. Blackboard Mobile Learn (IPAD)

Blackboard Mobile Learn is a distributed application on various mobile devices and smartphones (BlackBerry, iPhone, iPad, Android). In this article I examine the version iPad.

At first glance everything is very intuitive: on the left there is a bulletin board (graphically represented with a cork bulletin board with tacks and sheets, perhaps a bit ‘corny, but very clean visually) that contains the courses and the organizations that we follow or where we are registered. The central part of the screen is occupied by the dashboard (graphically represented with a black board), which contains the “to do”, in the form of list is sorted by date, by type (tasks, ads), or the course / organization using the buttons on the top.

Selecting a course from the dashboard to the left, the dashboard is minimized on the right side of the screen, remaining accessible at any time, and leaving space to all the information about the course:

  • Syllabus
  • Course Information
  • Announcements
  • Discussions
  • Votes
  • Articles
  • Student Blogs
  • Task (related to the course)
  • Tools
  • List of students in the

Some of these factors make access to the subcategories, which are also presented as a list. Course information, for example, contains information about exams, video and images. Here you can find all the materials that will be useful to students during the course. Announcements will contain a small bulletin board with announcements of the teacher (classes moved, dates and times of examinations).

The part on the courses, then, seems to contain a large amount of information, and is structured in the major categories, which in turn give access to the subcategories, and in turn they have access to a list of contents.

Despite the conceptual separation of the content looks good, maybe the presentation in the form of list is a bit ‘messy. Because some things are constant for all courses, could perhaps be a good idea to provide the standard icons for these common elements, in order to reduce the chaos in access to information, and facilitate the recognition at a glance.

The application is very complex, it seems well structured and very powerful. Probably the intentions of the developers were the ones to create a real benchmark for teachers and students, to replace various means (websites, blogs, message boards, forums, various documents) with a single instrument.

Precisely this is the biggest advantage and disadvantage at the same time of the application. This application gives the impression that it can not be used simply as an aid or supplement to a normal course, but to call a real “migration” to complete this instrument.
